As the United States moves its embassy to Jerusalem today, Palestinians in the city fear that Israel’s disregard for their rights is about to get worse. Israel touts a Jerusalem where all residents are equal, but reality tells a different story.
For more than 50 years, Palestinians have lived in a separate and unequal Jerusalem. Intersecting discriminatory Israeli laws, policies, budgets and practices have impacted every aspect of their daily lives.
The threat of home demolitions, evictions and residency revocation constantly hangs over their lives.
Palestinians in Jerusalem, including children, deserve to lead full lives with full rights. For this reason, Defense for Children International – Palestine has been working to develop a new campaign, led by non-governmental organization Mundubat, with the financial support of the European Union.
The Other Jerusalem campaign seeks to challenge Israel’s prolonged occupation of East Jerusalem and debunk the false notion of an “undivided Jerusalem.”
By exposing the real Jerusalem, we hope to mobilize individuals in the U.S. and internationally to rally behind our appeal to the European Union, United Nations Secretariat, and members of the UN Security Council to take action.
With your support, we can force these policymakers to take steps to end and hold Israeli authorities accountable for systemic and deliberate discrimination toward Palestinians in Jerusalem.
If enough people have the facts, we can change this reality. And thank you, as always, for your support.
